The Great Wave Off Kanagawa, by Hokusai. Hokusai is a famous japanese artist. He is also famous for the influence he had on Monet's impressionistic style and his pictures helped Monet to develop alternative techniques to traditional landscape paintings. This painting was published sometime between 1830 and 1833. This particular woodblock is one of the most recognized works of Japanese art in the world. It depicts an enormous wave threatening boats near the Japaese prefecture of Kanagawa. I found this painting on google and i really liked it. I enjoyed the colors and the texture that makes this peice kind of jump off the page.
